Family Therapy


Today’s families are not islands. Each family member has interactions and experiences with the outside world, which influences and affects their perceptions, their thoughts, and their moods. Differing personalities, values and opinions can negatively affect family communication and dynamics creating conflict, resentment, anger and hurt feelings. Many families also have a lot of difficulty talking honestly together about uncomfortable subjects, leaving things unsaid to grow and fester.

Family Therapy helps members to communicate their thoughts, emotions and experiences in ways that are honest and still respectful to others. A Family Therapist can support family members in feeling heard and validated while simultaneously helping them to also listen differently to others. For families with younger children (8-12 year olds) activities and family games may be utilized as a mean of facilitating the sharing of emotions in age-appropriate ways as well as encouraging family connectedness through fun and play.
