FAQs

  • At your first meeting, you and your therapist will discuss the current concerns that have brought you to therapy as well as exploring your general history. Together, you and your therapist will create a goal(s) to be worked toward. The frequency and number of sessions will vary depending on the type and amount of issues brought to therapy and will be discussed and agreed upon together.

  • A 50 minute clinical session is $150.00 inclusive and is due on the date of the session. A credit card must be provided during intake and is securely recorded in the client file. Fees can be paid via credit card or etransfer. When payment is received, a receipt will be issued showing a zero balance which can be provided to your benefits provider for reimbursement if applicable. • The initial consultation is an opportunity to learn a bit more about you/your family to ensure that our skills and expertise are the best fit for your needs. If it is determined that we are not, we will do our best to provide you with an alternative counselling practice or service provider. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have about counselling, our treatment approach and any other concerns you may have prior to booking your first session. During that call we can book your initial session should you want to move forward.

  • Sessions that are scheduled but not attended or are cancelled without 24 hours notice will be billed the full session fee. This fee must be paid prior to your next appointment

  • RSW’s and RP’s are both licensed to perform the controlled act of Psychotherapy in Ontario, meaning that in the context of counselling they do the same work. At Thriving Families Counselling our RP’s and RSW’s are equally skilled at psychotherapy, psychoeducation and providing support to individuals and families. New clients will be matched with the therapist whose particular skills and experience best meet their needs.
